This rare cassettone oozes charm and character. The carved decoration is particular to Brescia in Lombardy and the knobs are a rare feature carved as flowerheads to the petals behind so that they become part of and blend into the carved decoration on the drawer fronts. The walnut is a warm honey color with a lustrous patina. The color on the main image is not true it is showing darker than it is, see detailed images.

The rectangular top in two sections with a moulded edge. Sophisticated deep cornice. The front has four fitted drawers with fine crisp and deep carved 'C' scrolls, scrolling foliage and flowerheads. The carved flowerheads knobs unite with petal carving behind on the drawer fronts behind. The drawers lined in pine. Original working locks and key. The sides plain. On bracket feet, second half of 17th century. Measures: Height 93 cm, width 115 cm, depth 52 cm.
