Straight backs and seats covered in tapestry decorated with stylised urns and flowers. Shaped arms with scroll ends. Standing on straight back legs, and turned front legs joined by turned stretchers. Fine Brussels tapestry. Minor repairs to tapestry. Probably Flemish or French, circa 1680.

It is rare to find a pair of chairs retaining their fine early tapestry upholstery with such excellent colour and condition. The chairs are provincial, and it is very difficult to attribute which region they come from as they were made throughout Flanders and France in the 17th century.
