Keith Vaughan is probably best known for his studies of the human figure, in particular the male figure. In this early drawing, we can already see his interest in exploring the diversity of human expression but choosing sitters in a variety of postures, some male, some female and also a young boy. This group also includes (top right) a young man seemingly engaged in drawing or writing, perhaps a fellow student of Vaughan's.
