The lift-up top revealing a compartment with a locking device for the fall. The front decorated with geometric mouldings and opening to reveal twelve drawers arranged around a central deep drawer. The sides also decorated with geometric mouldings. On a later, 18th stand turned stand which bears evidence of having been associated with this piece for a long time. It is possible that the chest was originally intended as a table cabinet as it bears marks underneath indicating that it stood on bun feet at some point in time.
