Stool Pair of Upholstered Walnut Bargello Flame Stitch Baroque-Style Antiquarian
11374
A pair of antiquarian, Baroque-style, walnut, stools upholstered in bargello or flame stitch
In the late 19th-early 20th century the revival of the Baroque-style in country house interiors and furnishing led to exclusive central, London firms like Lengyon & Morant making top quality revival pieces for their high-end clients. It is virtually impossible to source pairs of Baroque period stools and these stools are faithful to period designs and beautifully made. They are traditionally upholstered in bargello which was very popular in the Baroque period and blends in with most colour schemes. They are in fabulous condition, robust and suitable for daily use as surplus seating when entertaining, seating in a bedroom or bathroom or as a decorative feature in a hall or corridor.
The stuff-over seats are upholstered in the French manner and covered with a bargello or flame stitch in tones of red, green, yellow, blue and grey, faced with a burgundy tape secured with brass studs. The tapering mushroom and ring turned legs on bun feet and joined by baluster and ball turned side and central stretchers.
