Exceptional and massive, 18th century, Spanish iron and brass, octagonal lantern.

Spanish metalwork is renowned for its quality and this magnificent lantern made for a nobleman exudes gravitas

- The six coronets around the top and the bottom sides suggest that this lantern was made for an aristocratic residence and it exudes gravitas. - It is an exceptionally rare, massive size and in excellent condition, currently hanging and working. - The framework is iron and the ornamentation executed in brass which elevates the aesthetic into a luxury item and reflects the light. - The ornamentation is characteristic of the Baroque period with six simulated flaming torchères around the sides - 20th century conversion to electricity.
