A fine, carved, and moulded, oak coffer initialed ' IS' and dated '1662'

The rectangular, rising top fitted with three, moulded panels. The lock removed, the hinges replaced, and the interior fitted with a candlebox. The frieze rail, carved with stylised scrollwork, above a three, panel front, each crisply carved with stylised geometric decoration and decorated with an applied moulding. The sides panelled. Standing on stile feet. Excellent original colour and patina. English, third quarter of the 17th century.
