The cresting carved with stylized leaves terminating in scroll ears inset with flowerheads. Brackets below with scroll carved whirls. The back with two panels, the upper panel carved with hearts inset with foliage and terminating in tulip heads, and the lower panel undecorated. The frame carved with a repeat of the foliate decoration within scrollwork. The downswept arms scratch carved with leaves. The seat in two sections with an old repair, and faced with a piecrust edge, the rails undecorated. Standing on column and ring turned legs at the front and straight legs at the back, joined by square stretchers. Re-pegged. Excellent original colour and patina. Probably Yorkshire, third quarter of the 17th century.
