The rectangular top has a solid, moulded edge and opens to reveal a compartment. One hinge is original, one 18th century, & the lock original. The frieze has a bold, border crisply, carved with gadrooning with an ogee moulding & a small gadrooned border below. The front has a central, moulded panel door, fitted with the original lock, later but period, iron handle, and original pin hinges. There is an old patinated patch in the middle of the door where a handle has been removed. The interior is fitted with a single shelf. There are solid moulded panels either side and the sides are also panelled. The rectangular top below has a rectangular top which bears traces of penwork decoration and is faced with a moulded edge. It retains its original pin hinges and opens to reveal a compartment. The front is decorated with a moulded panel with a central iron knob. Standing on bracket feet. Exceptional original colour and patina. Italian second half of the 17th century.

Length 70 cm., 2 ft, 3 ½ in., Height 95 cm., 3 ft., 1 ¼ in., Depth : 55 cm., 21 ½ in.

This prie dieu has an exceptional colour and patina. It is a very practical piece of furniture with the two lift-up compartments and the large cupboard.
