A rare set of 6, late-16th/early-17th century, Venetian, walnut sidechairs with marquetry inlay

Each with a moulded and panelled back, inlaid with foliate cartouches and shields which would have contained painted coats of arms. The friezes with scrolled aprons below, with a solid seat and similar inlaid and scroll carved front rail on square tapering legs with stretchers. Losses & old restorations commensurate with use and age. Thermo-Lignum treated July 2007.

Back Height 113 cm., 3ft., 8.50 in.,
Seat Height 50 cm., 19.50 in., Width 51 cm., 20 in., Depth 38 cm., 15 in.

These chairs are a particularly fine model which graced the corridors and rooms inside large palazzo’s.
